Jim grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon and attended University of Oregon for several years before joining the Army, serving in Vietnam in the late 60’s. He returned and finished his degree at Southern Oregon College where he graduated with a degree in Business in 1973.

Jim became a CPA in 1977. Jim and his wife Bonnie moved to Eugene that same year. He worked with several firms which laid the groundwork to establish his own partnership in 1983. He became senior partner at Mueller, Larson, Osterman and Yuva from which he retired in 2014.

After moving to Eugene, he became very active in the local car club, Emerald Empire Sports Car Club, attending and participating in Autocross, Rallying and Hillclimb. Jim became president of EESCC in the early 80s, eventually becoming treasurer, a position he continues to hold today.

In the late 70s’s he began road racing with Sports Car Club of America and became a licensed amateur road racer, traveling to several Northwest tracks competing. After starting a family, he focused his auto racing time to local autocross and rallys .

In the 90’s he became active again with SCCA, this time autocrossing. The love of traveling to other events all across the country and competing in even the National Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska continues today.

Jim joined the Lions Club in 1979. In the Eugene Downtown Lions Club he has held every office except secretary. He was president 1998-1999 and continues to be an active member. Over the years he has participated in Food Rescue, transportation of donated eye tissue to the Eye Bank in Portland as needed, and is actively involved in Meals on Wheels with a route every few weeks. Jim is Chairman of the Hawn Fund, which provides funds for local sight and hearing recipients

Jim and his wife Bonnie enjoy all Duck sports, currently attending men’s and women’s basketball as well as football games.
