John has been assisting the Foundation with outreach, venue planning, simulations, and cost estimating.

John has been an auto racing enthusiast that originated with his brother purchasing a Mark I Volkswagen GTI. In later years John began following the American and European LeMans Series, Rolex Series, then IMSA, WEC, and VLN race series. His auto racing passion led him into purchasing a 1984 Euro Spec. Porsche 911 in 2012 which was highly modified for track and Autocross use. John began competing in Autocross events in 2013 while living in Virginia. John returned to Oregon in 2015 and continued Autocross and has added hillclimbs to his adventures.

Professionally John is a licensed landscape architect and principal practicing in Eugene on a range of project types and scales. John lives in Eugene in the River Road area with his wife, dog, cat and big gardens, and shares his time with the family, gardening, fly fishing, fly tying, and tinkering with his Porsche to make it lighter and more agile.
